Legislative Update - May 31, 2017

The House just adopted a Joint Adjournment Resolution that states that the House and Senate will deemed to be in continuous session after May 31 and will stand adjourned until the call of the Speaker and the Senate President. We expect the Senate will adopt the Resolution today as well. This means that the House and Senate can reconvene in Springfield any time after May 31 through a simple announcement by leadership.

This is the same situation we were in last year when budget negotiations continued beyond May 31. It is now all but certain that the General Assembly will certainly be back in Springfield this June because there is no final budget deal.  We can’t know now how many days that will be.
